Five Wishes

by jen sheridan   Oct 12, 2010

I wish I were a blade of green, green, grass,
So incredibly small and so easily lost,
Uniformed, compliant like all the others,
I wish I was so completely insignificant.

I wish I were a tall, tall, tree,
Stretching, quietly upward, towards the canopy,
Age old and wise, he spreads his branches lovingly,
I wish I had his knowledge and insight.

I wish I were the cold, cold, flowing river,
Strength and conviction as it winds its lonely path,
Pushing aside obstacles as it chooses its way,
I wish I had his strength and endurance.

I wish I were the softly, softly, dancing wind,
Swaying eternally, whispering a lullaby gently,
Whispering sweetly to everything I touch,
I wish I were so gentle and assuring.

I wish I were the dark, dark, night sky,
Infinity beautiful, as it encircles the light,
Strangely peaceful, accompanied by silence,
I wish I were so peaceful and serene.

God gave all the right to dream.......
