Butterfly Caught

by Lady Nik   Oct 14, 2010

Catch me in the air
that fills this room
we sleep in at night.
Hold me--
Hold me ever so close
to your deathly heart,

I want to take in all of you
every last drop of your
love. I need it, crave it
deserve it.

Indulge me in your sweet
dreams, since life without you
turns directly into a nightmare.
Hold me--
Hold me every so close
to the edge of humanity,

I'm fading from the memories
you have of me. No longer
will I remain the love of your life
but rather a butterfly caught
in the sands of time.

Hold me--
Hold me every so close
as I say goodbye

I really loved this ending line. It really closed the poem well and I was moved by it. The entire piece is exceptional but that last stanza and that line there were my favorites. I adore this. You've done a fantastic job, and if you don't win something with this then there's something wrong in the world. Really amazing job. 5/5. :)

Nice work. How cruel it would be to capture a butterfly and not let them go to live on and the same would be true of a person.
