A Chorus of Caution

by Meena Krish   Oct 19, 2010

The golden orb departs, a diamond studded black veil drops
a slow hush falls upon the land and daylight's breath stops
rows of silhouette tree branches weave a ghostly intricate path
paving a journey into darkness where it waits with an open mouth

High up on a tree a spy hoots its presence looking on with thrill
while eyeing the strange object that scurries around waiting to kill
on the cliff's edge sits a wolf who lets out occasional howls
every time his silvery eyes catch a glimpse of evil on the prowl

Crickets from a distance uncontrollably chirp a cold song
trying to warn of an evil that lurks silently waiting to do wrong
an unsuspecting soul wanders in the forest without realization
whilst these creatures of the night screech a chorus of caution

A beautiful look into the forest and how all its animals are intricately connected with it, and how they protect each other from danger. Just watched a show about crows and how they warn the flock if someone is a threat.

You touched nature in a different way but excellent, Nature isn't always the bright wonderful place we picture in our minds. It can be harsh and damning
    Great write

Nature with dark overtones. The sounds of the night from natures creatures can be scary to some, to others it is a song of delight. Well done.
