You do your part

by kevin Boundy AKA the ghost   Oct 22, 2010

I close my eyes and I look back
on the things I've said and done
friends surround me, deaf to my call
and so you're not the only one

you say your sorry that you cant help
but there was no one in the world who could
death; a looming cloud in my brain
nothing in life disproved why I should

you only saw the aftershock of sadness
only the effects behind crippling grief
your the only one who can touch my chest
my dagger forever homesick for a sheathe

everyone sees a heart made of steel
you see the scars splayed across my chest
funny cupid finally shot true
the day I retired my Teflon vest

and so here we are my angel
that is why I constantly stare
because my front of stone wont phase you
you see the scars that aren't there

and with every touch you heal them all
and take your place inside my heart
you say you wish you could help
and with every kiss you do your part
