Dull Knife, Flat Spoon, Forked Tongue

by Ronald Edwards   Oct 25, 2010

Never heard a spoken word
that contained the truth.
Easier having summer weather,
mid December in Duluth.

A chicken in every pot
a promise made loud and clear.
Standing on a podium
smiling ear to ear.

No new taxes,we need a change,
vote for me I’m your man.
Females join in, arm in arm,
with their rendition of the can-can.

No matter what the sex is,
color, race or creed,
agenda hidden, out of sight,
its all about their greed.

So take a listen and watch the dance,
a dog and pony show.
It is your vote that they want,
just watch how low theyll go.

Useless tools the bunch of them,
dull knife, flat spoon, forked tongue.
What is left when all is said,
a pile of cow dung.

Simple poem that got the idea across very nicely. Your straight forwardness was key in this poem and you have penned a great poem. Great job and keep writing.

Well written. I can appreciate your frustration. Try Australia, maybe - the political spin is still there. It's just that no-one cares (except the media) :). cam

Showing my age, lol, after Watergate I lost all faith in the political system. I no longer believe anything a politician says, no matter the party and no matter the party, there is always a hidden agenda.
