The War Between Us

by Midnight Sun   Oct 25, 2010

You signed away your life
To Uncle Sam and his evil ways
Your good intentions to save our souls
Are burdened by his want to enslave

So he sends you afar
To deserts and lands unknown
As I sit here and wait for your return
Patiently craving your journey home

I fell in love with a soldier
A warrior of unmatched bravery
But now because of this dreaded war
I am kept in unwanted slavery

No matter how much I beg
Or how badly I desire your touch
There will always be a war between us
Keeping us from what we want so much

But no matter how long it takes
I will be here waiting for your arrival
Because I fell in love with a soldier
And our love is the basis of my survival

~Dedicated to the love of my life, Sgt. Jackson

I am really moved by the play on words: Wars Between Us, and every stanza.. Their rhythm is great.

And the many messages I could grasp are brilliant. Not only you're talking about love... but love and peace..
