And If...

And If...

And if that last time was the last to be,
still I carry you ever onwards with me,
to hold and to cherish as never was known,
you with the laughter and kisses soft blown.

And if the last time is still many years hence,
We will keep that last time in a fade less scent,
bottled in memories that sit so firm and true,
with warm touches and moist lips never to go blue.

And if the last time stays with just the last one,
that one will hold precious all that has then gone,
keeping their other half from the harshness and cold,
that may have come to trouble them as they grew old.

And if the last time that the last one breathes air,
should happen to be with fresh blooms in their hair,
the scent that they draw in will relieve any last woe,
for then on to the other at last they will go....
