A Simple State Of Mind

In my collection of poetry all words in ( ) are titles of one of my other poems

NOV.24TH 2007

As I was walking A peaceful country road
With my hearts song on my mind
Enjoying the pleasure of forgetting life's load
I saw things you just shouldn't find

At first I saw only the beauty around
And felt the fall air so crisp and clear
Until I saw litter had been thrown to the ground
As A gentle voice whispered , and ( My seasoned heart) did hear

My son I created this world for every creature to enjoy
Natures beauty was perfect from the start
But there are those who choose to destroy
And that surely breaks my heart

If you choose to ignore it
Then believe me you've joined their side
And thats A growing disease that just wont quit
Until we choose to turn the tide

As I was enjoying A leisurely Saturday
In the park with my daughter and sons
Reminiscing of my child hood at play
The simplicity of just having fun.

I started to remember things
how those days were A simpler time.
I became (THANKFUL) For the values to which I cling
So I can be part of the solution not the crime

Now don't get me wrong I'm no angel for sure
I've been lost , I've been stolen , I've been blowin in the wind
But we need A spiritual , emotional, And physical cure
To bring pollution to an end
