Don't Let Go Of My Hand

by Robert Daniel Long   Oct 31, 2010

I noticed
Just the other day
Something we all take for granted
It was something simple
A child reaching
For a parents hand

Little fingers
Wrapped around the finger
Of his father's
Held tightly seeking the security
And comfort of his love
Yet
Looking up at him in awe
inspired by his strength

His eyes saying
Don't let go of my hand

As they grow
The finger grasp
Now becomes a full hand hold
Seeking guidance as you lead them
Farther down the road of life
Knowing
They're held secure by you
And yet
A quiet voice says

Don't let go of my hand

As life goes on
Adults they become
Guided by love
Nurtured by security
Yet still the voice asks
Don't let go of my hand
As they reach to put their hand

Into the FATHERS
