Look......... We Have It All

by Robert Daniel Long   Oct 31, 2010

The sun
Is shining down on me
Warming me
Like a blanket
And
It feels so good

I hear
The birds singing
Their songs of love
In the trees
And from above
Some are near
Some are far

But the melody's the same
Love

Flowers are blooming
In the meadows
With colors
So radiant
But
They're swarming with bees
Collecting pollen and nectar
The essence
Of their recipe
They've honey to make
In a season of new beginning
The season of spring

I see the ocean
Out in front of me
The waves crashing
Upon the shore
And the taste
The taste of sea spray
Is something
You can't ignore

Sometimes
I long to be
Out at sea
Floating
On some distant ship
Swimming in drinks
And sun tan lotion
Or going to sleep
Rocked by the motion
Of the waves
Against the hull

The distant shores
And their people
Unique
In themselves
The taste of food
And the clothing
And the unfamiliar smells

That allure

We travel
To foreign lands
To see the sights
And the cultures
But here !!!!!
We have it all

It's there
For one and all to see
Wrapped all up
In one country

It's true look at us
We are
The red white and blue

With someone here
And living
From every nation
Together with us
In jubilation

One GOD
One flag
One nation

Though your poem holds true, mostly, Jubilaince is not one of the words i would use to discribe us, coming from not only a soldiers point of veiw, but from a former street kid. our nation is constantly in a state of utter chaos, even during times of international peace, we are still fighting, our government is currupt and hell bent, and our children are undisaplined and chaotic, we advertise sex, drugs and anarchy through various forms of media, and when we watch the news we always hear about someone getting shot or robed or a natrual disaster, and when we have good news its usally something stupid like some kid won a local spelling b, wich dose not outway the numerious chatistroph that has become the norm. sorry for the rant, but my country is pissing me off, your poem non the less is beautiful and has returned some faith i have left in my country, I wish everyone thought like you and saw only beauty and where beautiful people themselves. I give you 5/5
