Look And See

by Robert Daniel Long   Nov 1, 2010

Every one
Moves through life
Not really thinking
About the consequences
Of our actions
Or words

It seems
That we're oblivious
To the needs or welfare
Of others
And we're set
On self indulgences
To say the least

We all need a hand

Can't you
See the sunshine
Filtering through the trees
Can't you feel
The warmth
Or hear the buzzing
Of the bees
Can't you see the hurting

Please help me

Just look and see
The soul on the corner
Lost and alone
All he needs is some food
And a helping hand
He's a veteran
But hidden from your view
And you never took time
To notice
You pushed him from your view

See the person hurting
Needle tracks on his arms
Lost to misconception
Seeking love
And nothing more
Yet he's found it
With a powder
And in demons of fire

As he releases them in his arm

Can't you see
The sunshine
Filtering through the trees
Can't you feel
The warmth
Or hear the buzzing
Of the bees
Can't you see the hurting
Please help me

Just look and see
A world brought down
By hatefulness
It's something that can
Be stopped
If only we pause for awhile
And let that
That is bound up
Come out and set us free

Look and see
That

I needed food
And you didn't feed me
I needed clothes
And you didn't clothe me
I needed shelter
And you didn't shelter me
It's the very thing JESUS said

Just look and see
