Throwing rocks at my flaws

by Poet on the Piano   Nov 4, 2010

They didn't create
perfect,

in their mind
it's a twisted root
bending to deceive.

you don't have to starve
to play their expectations,
don't force your body's response
when all you crave is acceptance.

the eyes of envy
stare you down
until you are convinced
you need what they have

build your confident stride
and act in the name of love,
not of battered loyalty.

you pave your own words

-not a product of external beauty.

inspired by Jonny Diaz's song, "More Beautiful You". Give it a listen, it really speaks the truth and reaches to those who feel "unworthy" and "not good enough". God bless, you are loved.

I loved this, interesting inspiration, I will have to listen. The meaning of this poem was excellent, it's something many deal with everyday - just wanting acceptance from those around us, and not getting picked apart for our flaws. You have an interesting way of expressing this!
