I always knew it in my mind, It's my stubborn heart that holds on, A death grip on memories, That remind me why I love. Moments you captivated me, Times where only we existed, The slow peeling emotional band aid, Softly ripping me apart. One day I'll heal, But the scar will be there, Packed with old pictures and feelings, My portal to the past. Today, my wounds still seep, Emotions slow to coagulate, Confusion gripping me, Nothing seeming real but pain. An old friend, Reminding me I'm alive, Greeting me, As though we'd never been apart.
