Remembering

Remembering
when the days of the young
were alive, breathing, and in the moment
life was made of pure innocence

mud stained shoes
grass smeared knees
toothless grins
and sun kissed cheeks

Remembering
long summer nights
where the sun never set
laughter echoed across the land

Kool-aid mustaches
Blueberry painted fingers
ice cream filled tummies
And bed time lores

Oh, childhood memories
Can you come true again?
Breathe another minute
live another day...

Remembering
when the ground sparkled like the sky
snow men, snow forts,
snow memories were made

Snow crusted boots
ice bruised knees
Wind frozen smiles
and pink bitten cheeks

Remembering
Short winter days
where the sun finally shuts it's eyes
sighs of wanting longer nights blew across the land

Hot chocolate stained tables
Numbed from the cold fingers
Fire warmed socks
And bed time ghost stories

Oh, childhood memories
can you come true again?
breathe another minute
Live another day...

Its amazing what the differances are between our childhood, simple, free, fun, and loving, and that of our adult lives, confusing, irrational, frustrating, full of long nights at work and pompus idiots trying to run our lives, days of honnesty gone, and now we must lie to keep our secrets in check, life was simple when we where 5 and 6, and our biggest worries where to be at school on time, and bullies that wanted our lunch money. Now we have to worrry about work, bills, and families of our own. I would give anything to live out one day of childhood again, and this poem reminded me of how life once was, years and years ago. I may be only 22, but man I feel old, so has old man, thank you, with much respect and graditude, may your life be pleasent, and may whatever God you besech bless you. Youve brought a soldier a smile. 5/5 hands down
