Her Diamonds

by Whisper   Nov 15, 2010

((based off of the song Her Diamonds by Rob Thomas))

Teardrops fall like diamonds
Scatter on the ground
They fall like rain on a summer night,
Yet not one makes a sound.

I carry the diamonds with me
Memories of joy and pain
But my heart is growing heavy
For we lose more than we gain.

My tears fall more like Moissanite*
They look and sound the same
Her tears fall for pain and strife,
Mine for empathy and shame.

Darkness lifts from the sky
Sunlight fills the room
It lifts the diamonds from the floor
And takes away the gloom.

For now it seems it's over,
With agony behind
What is now gone will soon return
And once again plague her mind.

*Moissanite is a high quality synthetic gemstone which imitates the appearance of diamonds.

I have 2 fav parts in this :) and they are:

"I carry the diamonds with me
    Memories of joy and pain
But my heart is growing heavy"

    and

"For now it seems it's over,
    With agony behind
What is now gone will soon return
And once again plague her mind. For we lose more than we gain."

    Great Poem 5/5
