Days of Tyranny

by Countess of Monte Cristo   Nov 15, 2010

Of one thing I am sure,
The days of your tyranny are almost done.
Enjoy the last remnants of your power,
For soon will come the day when there is none.

That's the price you pay for all your actions,
Now is the time for redemption and revenge.
For all what you've done there are harder reactions,
Justice cannot declare itself without it's avenge.

I see defeat in your eyes already,
And within it the look of a broken soul.
You built a pitch black emptiness inside you,
So that you can hurt others to fill that hole.

Reach out to the pathological misery that is within your spirit,
Is being evil so much more satisfying than being good?
If the answer is yes, then congratulations,
I'm sorry that you're so misunderstood.

But remember that your days of tyranny are almost over,
I see massive defeat in your eyes,
Time and history have numerously proved that,
The hardest fall is what succeeds a haughty rise.

I agree with Sylvia that this could apply to many different situations but the one that I think stood out the most was a dictator about to lose all his power as he sits on the edge of defeat. I might be wrong but thats the indication I got. The overall poem was well structure from what I could tell and the rhyme scheme was good as well and didn't mess up the flow one bit. Great job and keep writing.

As I read this, I was thinking this could apply to many situations, a love affair, country's of the world. Seems to allow the reader the freedom to make a choice.
