Days Gone Past

JUNE 1989 POEM #15

Why did you wake me ,
You're not even here!
We've been separated
For almost a year!

My eyes begin to open,
And your in my head.
I slowly roll over,
Alone in my bed.

I start To remember,
My (DREAMS OF YOU)
I try hard to sleep,
But you always break through

Today is the same,
As days gone past.
Each morning reality,
Hits hard and fast!

I spend each day,
Improving my life .
All alone with,
the thoughts of my wife

Trying to erase,
The mistakes I have made.
Working so hard,
But your memory won't fade

You don't think of me,
Because you have Ken
I could sleep with another,
But my heart won't give in!

My mind says give up!
My heart says no way,
You do what you want,
I'll wait for that day

Well wait if you want ,
Ill do what she said!
When she comes to wake me,
She'll find someone in my bed

This is the first I have read of your work. It's heart breaking but beautifully said.
Do we ever really stop loving that special someone? I don't know.

You speak of love, and you speak of pain, you speak of faithfulness-yet

What a heartfelt write. When we lose someone from a break up or death.....it is one of the most painful things we will ever feel......not to have the one you love by your side anymore :( It makes it worse when you still love this person but they don't return the love to you. You did a great job with this piece. I could feel all your emotions crying from your words.
