My Loss

I thought losing you would be my downfall
But now that it's over with,
I realize it was for the best.
I realize now where I fit.

You held me back from the life I needed.
The life I was wanted to lead.
You were never going to change me
From the person I was meant to be.

I held on too long
But you'd never let go
Of what could come to be
