Every Night

by Amy   Jun 19, 2004

Every night she lays awake
drenched in her tears
clutching her teddy to her chest
suppressed by all her fears

Eyes so big and wide
staring at the walls
at the angel of darkness
that has come to watch her fall

A weak ray of moonlight
shines down from the sky
in the distance
she hears another's tortured cries

Shadows on the wall
with the wind they dance
she sits deep in thought
almost as if in trance

She can feel it spread
every ounce of pain
infecting her entire body
racing through her veins

She looks down at her hands
they are stained with blood
all her hopes and dreams
covered in mud

She hears the rain outside
and thunder in the sky
lighting right above
drowning out her cries

Voices whispering
they never seem to stop
sadness unbearable
watching her tears drop

She knows that this
is how she will remain
locked in her dark room
locked away with her pain

You're an awesome writer. I'm sorry that you have so many sad stories to tell, but I do enjoy the way you tell them. I have read many of your poems and this is the first one I have commented on. So when I say that you're very talented and you write great poems....I know that it won't be the first, or last the time you'll be hearing that.
