She, the Lady of All

by Armada the Gestalt   Nov 25, 2010

This day, Winter sat upon the land,
Its bloodless knife sitting in its open hand,
A blade birthed in the tempest of a forge,
That knew no light and knew no warmth,
Soft as velvet, sharp as silk,
This day, the land knew many of its ilk.

Winter raised its hand, and plunged the blade,
To and through the land it made,
Pierced the heart of running water,
Shook the leaves of trees asunder,
See the mountains shake in wonder,
The death, as soft as snow, as fierce as bone.

And screamed,
High in the trees,
Ice on the breath of the smoky sky,
And sung,
A skirling note,
Cold is the heartland the Goddess wrote.

See, high in the trees,
The birds that turn their vibrant heads in shame,
Those who cannot sing to match the name,
The crown of ice,
A sacrifice.

White as an empress of sunless birth,
She spreads her mantle over shaking Earth,
The wound from the glinting dagger's ire,
Fit to steal the very light from fire,
This our gift, this is her word,
The season that creeps where the lines are blurred.

And screamed,
Deep from the sea,
Ice in the eyes of the soulless deeps,
And sung,
Sweet as a lark,
A word-woven magic to lengthen the dark.

So said She,
Wait for me here,
Live for the boon of the coming year,
Shiver;
Learn of my devotion,
The words that wrote the ocean,
The mountains, the clouds and the geese and the breeze,
So shall my beloved thralldom freeze.

O sing,
The shattering throne,
We'll yield to the thrall that this country's long known.

    Congrats ; 1st of all.
    Sorry for the late comment.
Anyhow.. I as Ingrid; felt disapointed because of the silence that I was enjoying as I was reading your piece.

It reminded me of "the lady of shalott poem" by Alfred Lord Tennyson .

    SO BE PROUD!!

The word choice was perfect; flopped between perfection and excellence.

The imagery was of a high quality; no doubt.

And the wording reflected such a very unique talent.
I admired each single expression; because of the creativity in it.

None of your lines sounded forced and that is enough to give you credit.

I had some parts speaking to me loudly..
and some louder..and then I founded myself sinking deep inside the expressions andd the Settings of your poem.

The cold; nature; and title all took me into another world; a very inspiring poem that deserved nothing less than an in-depth comment!!

And I won't end this before I ASSURE you that it was very original and unique; it was something that we never pass by often.

a poem with a strong structure; obvious coherence; outstanding expressions; lines that would give you goosebumps; and word choice that can never bore you!!

I am a fan of this poem and I look forward to read more; and see more poems pierced at the front page of P&Q.

I hope my words make your day; cause I meant each single one.

    Keep this astonishing work.

    5/5/well of-course
