Human Ways

by Lady Nik   Dec 1, 2010

Darkness eludes light
when life comes to an end.
People run to touch the sun
never seeing it set at dusk.
Why do we fall in place
and follow the rhythm
that will take us to the sea?

Humanity--

The awful destiny we have to
face. The waking up when
a child cries, the laughter
at a funny sound, the tears
at a burial site. Human
is our flaw... our perfect
never-ending flaw.

We can either swim through
the crushing waves or be
sucked into the noir abyss
where death is the only cure
for humanity.

Pulled underneath harsh waves
never able to surface once more...

Nice work Nik. There is a sense of darkness and sadness to your words. Human's do have a way and it is not always a good way. The saying of sink or swim came to mind in the later verses and really that is how life is, we can either sink or swim through all the stuff and survive. Well done.

A very strong and emotional poem. I loved how you went about the large metaphor for the poem an making it like a fight for survival. There were many emotion but the ones I felt the most were sadness, pain, remorse, and even a release from this world. The imagery you use in this poem is also very vibrant. It creates images in my head that I am able to see as I read through your poem. The flow was right on and I don't think there is one thing I would change in your poem. Great job and keep writing.
