I built this haven such a peaceful place
hoping this fog, this confusion would clear
in this spot i can hide from every face
silently wishing those i hold so dear
have the strength needed to walk their own course
Sad, it is to see one give up the fight
I want them to smile, have no remorse
up above in my haven, there is light
my light i will lend to those in great need
At this time i shall keep up my guard
the tears finally escape this i still plead
no matter the circumstances bypass the hard
up in my haven i watch from above
you gave me something i never dreamed of
worth more than any gold, as pretty as a dove
I've come to know it as love
Someday I may come down
from my secluded space
and wear my rightly crown
but i can not easily erase
the new start you gave to me
you gave me what i needed to live again
so that someday we may be together again

I really like this poem, although when you switched the rhyming scheme it threw me off. You have great imagery, but "as pretty as a dove" seems forced, I feel it could either be worded better, or choose a different word to play around with..

    Overall, an enjoyable read
