My Life, Changed

It was just another day,
Maybe sometime in May.
You and me were together again,
Promised to be best friends till the end.

We stayed up all night,
Being rowdy and having fun.
We never knew what was about to happen,
The next morning to come.

When we finally woke up,
We heard the telephone ring.
I got up and answered it, laughing,
But the next moment SCREAMED.

Something terrible happened,
And I soon began to cry.
My mom had been in a car accident,
They said she’d probably die.

I quickly hung up the phone,
Still crying so hard.
Kayla asked me what was going on,
And I told her about the harm.

We both ran out of my house,
Not locking any doors.
Flung down the stairs,
And put the petal to the floor.

When we finally arrived,
They told us the news.
They had her stable,
But she still might loose.

I was so scared,
She still may not make it.
I got down on my knees,
And prayed to God they were faking.

She was going to live,
She couldn’t die.
She was my best friend,
And all of my pride.

She meant the world to me,
And I knew I couldn’t survive without her.
I would put a knife to my throat
If she were a goner.

As a nurse ran through the double doors,
I heard her yell, it looks like hell.
My heart sank,
As a panicked look swept over the doctor’s face.

A few moments later
He came back through the doors.
I jumped up and ran over,
As he disappointedly shook his head.

I collapsed on the floor,
I wished I were gone.
And screamed to the Lord,
How can she be dead?

I hated myself for all the bad I’ve done,
But so much more for all the fun.

A year’s gone by,
And still there’s pain.
It still feels as is my life has been drained.

I used to smile a lot,
And laugh often.
But now all the happiness
Has been forgotten.

I just wish she were here,
So I could tell her I Love Her.
That no matter how far away,
How old I get, or where we ever are,
I’ll always be her daughter.
