Warp and Weft

by sibyllene   Dec 11, 2010

There are lines that cross the void between the stars
and shape them to their fates-
patterns that drop like meteors
and bed themselves
in the corners of our eyes.

Lines are drawn between this hilltop and the next,
binding them together in a web
that throbs and wavers,
and is matched
by the tapestry of our veins.

A path crosses over the swift flurry of a river
and joins the near bank to the far
by a stone path that arches
and becomes the way
for our souls, wandering like little waifs in sleep.

A thread of light ties the cosmos to the atom:
twin mirrors with images
receding into the abyss.

My lips are the last pink of sunset.
My arms are the chalky shores.
My dreams are the deep shadows of myth.
My feet follow the lines from star to star, and

I unfurl my hand, as
I feel the universe blossom.

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed your poem, and felt inspired to write by it...it's been quite a long time since I felt that way about a poem. :)

I think I am in love with this piece; pretty pretty inspiring but at the end of the comment I will be giving you the last decision regarding my emotions and your son (poem) .

There are lines that cross the void between the stars
and shape them to their fates-

^^ the opening line; is rather thoughtful..
perfect wording and makes it somehow VISUAL .

    patterns that drop like meteors
    and bed themselves
in the corners of our eyes.

AMAZING; just amazing and deep; what I love the most is you ability and the power you have with words; makes everything fits together

Lines are drawn between this hilltop and the next,

^^I read this at a loud voice with the ARe and without the are; and IF you are interested it sounds better for the flow without it.

binding them together in a web
    that throbs and wavers,
    and is matched

    ^^
this was magical; and TRULY admirable .
The word choice is pretty unique and precise.
You just like KNOW what you want to say; and then you do it perfectly.
I love this :by the tapestry of our veins.

    (never heard it before..like ever)

A path crosses over the swift flurry of a river
and joins the near bank to the far
by a stone path that arches

OMG such a beautiful beautiful image Sib; very poetic and original. this is the main point that I am trying to show my impression about. It's all new and nothing that we will read usually. I love the relation between your 1st stanza and this one; as I recalled the lines and fates; then now came across the path that crosses over..
Well done. Kept me in the mood

My lips are the last pink of sunset.
My arms are the chalky shores.
My dreams are the deep shadows of myth.
My feet follow the lines from star to star, and

^^^Well I have a different taste today; because I actually felt harmony and a good rhythm with these 4 My's . Kind of make the poem now related to the First Person and I usually feel close to the poem when passing by the "I attitude"
PLUS the flow was great and the expressions that you created and drew by your own words was really impressive.

    I feel the universe blossom.

^^This ending line was kind of a fresh air to the poem; and in case you still remember what I said at the opening lines of the "comment" well yes I am in love with this !
    Off-course

This is absolutely amazing. This poem creates an inner peace, describes the beauty, and then leaves the "maker" or "designer" up to the reader. Absolutely beautiful! The flow, the impact, and the strength of this poem in my opinion is completely flawless. Awesome Job!
