The idea of the Cosmic Battle as a game of chess is very apt. What is most interesting to me is that, in your poem, both sides seem almost malicious. Both sides are battling, both seem like they would be willing to sacrifice pawns to their causes. Additionally, if we take God to be the master behind the curtain... well, then that's not very complimentary. It suggests that the Good side has just as much bluster and scare tactics as the Bad side. I'm not sure if that's how you were intending it, but it's very intriguing.

Excellent poem, Ron! You weave the imagery of the chessboard and its pieces around the a feeling of an approaching apocalyptic battle. Perfect imagery for Armegeddon, but I also can also see it applying to the various nations today with their political alliances in an unstable world, ready to initiate some unpredictable war at any time.
