Can't Give In

by Chris   Dec 12, 2010

It's too late for you to apologize now
You planted the knife with a smile
Told me how you needed me
And then kicked me down after
Cause I was just another toy
Another toy for you to toss aside

I loved you with the fire of the sun
Ignored what my friends said about you
Trusted your word more than my own
Even as I lie crushed and bleeding
Feeling the dagger buried in my chest
As you continue to twist the blade

But I can't give in to despair
I have to hold onto the rope
To do the impossible
And accept the unacceptable
Cause if I can't be your equal
Then I'll just have to be better than you

This is a good way to put out your message :)

I really like the message here. Countless people have experienced the emotions in the first two stanzas, but very few see them through to the outcome you wrote. I like it.
