Season Of Absence

by SiLeNtLy ScReAmInG   Dec 13, 2010

Whistle of winter winds,
The click of the lock,
Silence in a lonely room,
And the tick of the clock.

A gentle hum of traffic on the street,
And voices talking in the hall,
Water running through the pipes,
Audible even through the wall.

The whisper of a quiet breath,
A single occupant at home,
Surrounded by so much noise,
And yet still so alone.

In the absence of another,
Without a rhyme or reason,
Melody transform to cacophony,
But it's just the sounds of the season.

Winter feels like an eternity,
Yet it always seems to pass,
Testing the limits of all strength,
Until the very last.

Remember though the days are long,
And bones grow ever weary,
Spring is just over the horizon,
And the days won't always be so dreary.

Don't give up in the last leg of the journey,
Or let the heart speak treason,
Believe in the truths that have been told,
And trust there'll be a changing of the season.
