You Are

by NineteenMinutes   Dec 17, 2010

You are a wall...
I talk and you don't listen,
You don't have any give, you stand still,
I push and push, for nothing,
You can't change and never will.

You are empty...
I stare into your eyes,
But there is nothing there,
I search your heart for something, anything,
All I find is air.

You are an ocean...
You are uncontrollable,
In your expansiveness you hide,
I try and hold you, but can't,
I drift out with the tide.

You are a secret...
I've kept you to myself,
And hidden you away,
Kept you safe and protected,
A secret I'll never say.

You are someones daughter,
A sister and a wife,
A mother and a Nana,
A women with a life,
You're a cook and a cleaner,
You make a home,
You are my mother...
But you I do not know.

You are...
A woman who hides her emotions,
Who gave her life away,
To become a mother and a wife,
And regrets it everyday.

You are...
Good at hiding it,
But it's there behind the grin,
You are a mother,
Who wont let your children in.

You are...
My everything, I'm yours,
We help each other when we're sad,
I am your whole life...
is that what hurts so bad?
