Rachelle

by Richard S   Dec 24, 2010

So very happy on that night.
The night that you were born.
And if that night had not occurred,
My life would be forlorn.

For there would not have ever been,
The very happy hours,
That fill my life from that day on,
With laughter that is ours.

Remember trips to grocery stores.
The sniffing of the prunes.
Sharing bags of Cheezies,
And watching old cartoons.

Remember trips to the Western Fair,
And going on the rides.
Remember whacking all the moles,
And all the fun asides.

Remember making chocolate milk,
On the front room chair.
You didn't want to wake me.
I didn't have a prayer.

Couldn't really be too mad.
You only tried your best.
Your heart was in the proper place.
You wanted me to rest.

You wanted me to rest again,
That time you climbed the stairs,
And got into Mom's makeup.
I had to make repairs.

Going to the toy store,
Just to see what we could see.
You never were demanding.
You never made a plea.

Curious taste in T.V.
Well beyond your years.
Jeopardy's final question,
Never caused you fear.

Absorbed the world around you.
On trips out west we found,
You taking over bus tours,
With knowledge so profound.

The things that I remember most,
Involve a sense of humour.
On the side of laughter.
Never a late bloomer.

You have the gift to see the fun,
In almost everything.
With a wit as quick as yours,
Much joy you always bring.

Your talent for creating,
Has always impressed me.
Drawing, painting, writing,
I wish the world could see.

See your well-honed talents,
Compassion for the planet,
See your sense of humour,
See your will of granite.

But to me you'll always be,
The little girl with love so deep,
And when you got in trouble deep,
You'd whisper shhhhh.....

"Daddy is asleep".

I really Enjoyed reading this poem. Friendship is indeed a priceless gift. I never really cherish friendship until about two years ago, i met what i would say my best friend. It brings so much comfort to know that one is here for us, no matter what. Very well did, 5/5, kel.
