Cover these yells

by Poet on the Piano   Dec 31, 2010

Dreadful leaves cackle outside,
dark winds confiscating my air.

I hear his drunk footsteps pound...

Moonlight wins its allotted time,
hours of classic mystery and chase.

I see his shadow creep upon the wall...

Sickly faces brew incantations,
no shelter quiet enough to outsmart them.

I feel his heavy breath enter my room...

All sounds are drained from existence,
silence a prey of death's choking leash.

I crouch in the corner as his body
transforms into a beast, snarling
at my childish fears and actually
laughing, that I could be so stupid.
