Elz

by Poet on the Piano   Jan 1, 2011

Land was vast in these times,
mighty hills prideful and bearing
great honor. Villagers were satisfied,
working with merry structure,
smiles firmer than the mountains.
Feathered birds sung daily of earned
peace while daughter dawn warmed
away the faraway chill. Every creature
and human belonging to this humble
community rejoiced, for they had
found a home worth more than their
soul. All remained calm, unbroken,
even when winter pushed fall
breezes into forgotten memory.
Icicles began to swing daringly
from slippery rooftops; kind
frost breathing deeply, yearning
friendship within cold walls.

And so the story grew older.
