Nor will we ever be
We knew each other so well
But yet it was not our destiny
We thought about each other all the time
Though we never said a word face to face
It was almost as if knew it was forbidden
But we kept the faith just in case
Perhaps if it were a different world

Somewhere where people were more understanding
Somewhere with a lot less strife
We were just too different to those who would have seen us
And so they would have never understood
We would have spent our entire life explaining
How a love like ours was real and good
