Not me

by StarryBlackNight   Jan 9, 2011

You'll never get it,
You'll never understand.
This world just doesn't like me,
and I don't like it.

We're mortal enemies facing each other on the battlefield.
With our swords drawn and our armies behind us.
We stand upon the brink of war waiting for the first blow.
Our eyes are blazing with hatred for one another.
Raising a sword above my head I'll charge into battle.
But I'll never win.

I can give the world a few cuts, a few bruises.
But it breaks my bones and leaves me to die alone.
No pill can take away the pain of defeat.
I'll fix myself only to have to charge into battle once again.
The cycle keeps going with me being the loser.
I'll never win this war.

The world is vast, and there's many places.
But everywhere I go there's a sword held against me.
I'm the world's enemy, and my enemy is the world.
We fight, but it has yet to take my last breath from me.
I'll gather my armies once again only to be foiled once again.
I'll never give up.

Once more I'll charge into battle with my sword held high.
Once more I'll fight this unstoppable enemy from taking me.
I'll fight the world, because it picked a fight with me.
So raise your swords, all of you and follow me into battle.
So you can see the terror of fighting the world head to head.
I'll always fight.

Blow for blow, glare for glare.
I'll match the world and win this fight.
I'll do whatever it takes.
I'll make it through this day.
Raise your swords above your heads and help me win this war.

I am not the enemy.
But I have been made the enemy by the world.
So come at me with your sword world.
Stab me if you wish.
But you'll never take my last breath.
Because I'm not the enemy.

I'll never win.
I'll never give up.
I'll always fight.
I'll raise my sword in vain.
I'm not the enemy,
The world is.
