Wall Shadows

by Cindy   Jan 14, 2011

Shadows move across the walls
Don't turn off the lights
Waiting in total darkness
To give you such a fright

Pulling blankets over your head
There is no where to hide
They can find you any where
Don't dare to go outside

They lurk, they wait, they hide
Calling out your name
Feeding on all your fears
To them it's just a game

Ghostly visitors from beyond
Don't know what keeps them here
Can't cross over to the light
For reasons still not clear

They seem to want to capture
You and your living soul
Maybe this is something
They think will make them whole

So when you go to bed at night
Sleep very lightly my friend
You never know when they may come
And you will meet your end

This has a real eerie, depressing feeling to it. It was written very well to make the reader feel what you feel... very nicely done my dear. :)

Not sure I would classify this as a dark poem. I read it as more of a humorous look at possible children being scared of the dark, maybe adults too. It is a good poem to read on Halloween I think.

It is a frightening thing..reading this reminds me of the series they show "The Haunting"..we never know what lurks where and when it will come for you! Liked the read!
