Its Not Just A Game

How is this supposed to work,
how will our love be what it’s supposed to be?
I know we’re in love and will be forevermore,
but my parents are trying to stop you and me.
They don’t want me to be alone with you,
they don’t want us french kissing.
They’ll even keep us apart forever,
hide me away and say I’m missing.
I can only see you when they say,
but not unless I do what they tell me to.
I’ve got to promise there will be no more french kissing,
and that we’ll never be alone, just me and you.
They say that they’re just looking out for us,
trying to prevent mistakes for goodness sakes.
But haven’t they heard the saying,
let them learn from their own mistakes.
They say they were young once too,
and that they know just what we’re feeling.
Although this may be true,
everyone’s actions don’t leave them reeling.
We may feel the same way they once did,
but that doesn’t mean our actions will be the same.
I understand the consequences and have set my limits,
my parents don’t believe, but our love is not just a game.
No matter what my parents say,
no matter what they do.
Our love will endure forever,
and it’ll be just me and you.
