And I dreamed deeper

by Poet on the Piano   Jan 15, 2011

Chains of temperature outlived us,
confiscating day paths.
I marked nothing but sleep
upon my calendar, lingering one
finger off bed-light,
transfixed in a night watch.

You came motionlessly,
my spirit, and never planned to wake.
A light touch, an inner visit concentrated,
you were alive and breathing for me.
