Dear Silence

by A lonely soul   Jan 18, 2011

Dear Silence:
I know you are here, somewhere out there
you have won, and I have lost

Silence is now my only real friend
when the real people are gone
when there is no one to speak to
or listen to with empathy
when nobody else would care
because they left me all alone
in mind, body and soul all on my own
to feel the sorrows and cherish
what is left of life as it unfolds

All one wanted was a friend or two
with an innocence of a child
and twinkly mischievious eyes
sometimes brighter than the
shiniest star in the dark sky
a smile that is worth a million
that had the power to patch a broken heart
or cure the sadness in a lonely soul

All those days are now bygone
tears of humility run down the cheek
for the folly is all myn
to try to win somebody's friendship
someone whose heart is covered
in a stone cast within a shadow of doubt
but I know the soul is still pure
and has the power to melt the stony cast
encasing the trapped heart, if it truly desires
one day not too far away

It was just an ambitious dream
of one mortal who reached for the sky
for love and friendship which could not be had
a golden dream, only one in a lifetime
an innocent desire which could not come true
Just a somber reminder
to a beat up soul
that thou art is just
an ordinary human being

I enjoyed reading this poem all the way. Though i like these verses best:
"but I know the soul is still pure
and has the power to melt the stony cast
encasing the trapped heart, if it truly desires"
In the end all of it was touching, atleast to me. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work!
