Silence is Golden

by A lonely soul   Jan 19, 2011

Silence is Golden
in a temple of peace or solitude
When the soul is seeking out someone eternal
or when cherishing some ethereal memories
Alone, in all that worldly confusion full of lies

Silence is sometimes needed
to let our thoughts wander far and wide
when we are thinking deep, quiet or aloud
as a scientist, an artist or a monk
to find that elusive discovery, wonderful artistry or truth

Silence is for that flower bud
whose love has not yet borne fruit
as it still remains hidden deep within
patiently waiting for that queen bee to seek it out
and enjoy the nectar of sweet imagination together

Silence is hope
when one sees "land ahoy" in the distance
Sometimes just a delusion
but for those wandering souls
Lost in the vast ocean of life
it is dreams unfulfilled even if a mirage

Silence is patience
for those who are impatient or blind
in trying to conquer that invisible peak
High and mighty, all of their own
Until they are humbled by their efforts
And realize one needs two to reach that goal

Silence is for the fallen brave
in admiration for their courage
and respect for their family and country
but is it not an equally brave virtue
for those who are here still alive
with a desire to share and spread the cheer to friends, neighbors and all those around us, sometimes incognito

Silence can be one's pride or ego
or perhaps one's self respect not to be lost
But why feel a loss of honor
or pretend one is hurt
if there was truly no dishonor

Silence may destroy a broken soul
when one cannot give
any solace to those
whose spirits are down but not yet out
in this jungle of imagination

Silence is for those
who have a desire to justify
what was done wrong but not the
will or courage
to forget and forgive
to make someone else happy

Silence can be ominous
when delivered as a mortal blow
to the psyche, heart or the soul
leaving them speechless, bleeding and wounded
it can be fatal you know, even to the immortal

Silence for the deceased
is our respect for their deeds
but when used to treat
the living as dead
Is it not like sending them early to their grave
when all they want is to live and spread happiness

Silence is painful
when you wish one was there
to give you comfort, solace and peace
and the courage to say no one was wronged
even though one perceived it to be wrong

Silence can be a smile
when one cannot speak
or say "I meant it not to be"
But even the littlest of smiles can take away
The painful sting that
was never meant to be

Silence cannot heal a heart or a soul
hurt by our words and actions
deeply or seemingly irrecoverably
in reality or in the virtual world
when a healing touch, smile or a hug
can miraculously cure all wounds in seconds

Silence can be broken
even by those who think its is unbreakable
if one has a true desire
to undo what was not right
or what was just not meant to be

Silence is a golden stone-heart
one made of material tougher than granite
but is there really any stone or heart in this world
that hard or invincible
that a diamond cutter's pen not cut through

^ Silence is golden! -> I definitely agree with that!
And here, the first stanza directed my thoughts to the relation between humans and God. Silence between them... is just a connection. A tight one!

^ In this stanza, you can tell that not only silence in prayers.. but also in every other thing.. work.. art.. poetry..

    Brilliant, indeed.

    ^ What an amazing scenery.

^ And omg.. the last three verses are brilliantly penned.!!!

I love it. You just developed 'silence is golden' in so many thoughts, tightly connected and of vividness and thickness!! :)

Though this is long, I enjoyed reading it. I think you have penned something amazing. It made me think in some areas, and question in a few others. The emotion was well done as was the purpose of it. Flow was not an issue in this piece, it was done quite well in fact. Excellent job
