Through Gunslinger Eyes

by Paul   Jan 21, 2011

Death was calling him to it's lair
But the pain wasn't more than he could bare
Shot in the chest and twice in the leg
But for his life he would not beg
They turned their backs to let him die
But still he saw through Gunslinger eyes

He quietly clawed his way to his knees
Cocked his heavy irons and fought back a weeze
His own blood; flowing through the holes
His final act would be to claim their souls
Their backs were to him but he refused to shoot
That was the cowards way out, there's no dispute
He gave a loud and piercing cry
Because he saw through Gunslinger eyes

They spun to see the source of the noise
The Gunslinger smiled and kept his poise
When they turned full he took aim to slay
Pulled both triggers; sent death their way
The bullets he sprayed; Their effect was pungent
The roar of his guns were like final judgement

The six men before him fell to the ground
Expression on their face's full of astound
Their bodies in front of him; scattered like leaves
He reached for the letter concealed by his sleeve
"Dear Daddy..." it read "...I need you at home."
Ambushed and dying, now he's left her alone
For the first time in memory he lay there and cry
Tears for his daughter flowed through his Gunslinger eyes

With his last breaths, his life bleeding out
He'd have his goodbye without any doubt
He rolled to his stomache and started to crawl
It took him awhile but he reached that wall
Using his blood he wrote that goodbye
And once he finished he collapsed with a sigh
His daughter would see it, of that he was sure
His only worry now was he'd make her impure

He hoped like hell she'd be okay
That she'd be fine by her wedding in April or May
So he whispered "I love you" and laid in the street
Feeling death draw nearer with every heartbeat

He threw away his weapons before he could die
But in the last second he still saw through Gunslinger eyes.

I found this to be a awesome poem, your flow, theme, format and wording were perfection.
The storyline was better then any movie I have ever seen , you were the gunslinger for a moment in time you were living that part.
Maybe a life once lived haha, anyway it was perfection and going in my favorites.
