I still remember

'Growing up only means doing what's best for you even if you have to break some hearts including your own'

I still remember..
Thinking,

How am I going to get through this?
What have I done to myself?

I still remember...
Feeling,

My heart like shattered glass inside me..
Cutting me,hurting me.

I Still Remember..
Needing,

A warm hug,
a word of kindness

I still remember...
Being,

To afraid to tell a soul
Couldn't bare the thought of
living
With fingers pointing at me..
Like stains who will never fade

I Still Remember..
How you moved inside of me,
But fear was greater than love..
For love would never fill an empty stomach..

& now I can't forget..

-how I selfishly chose me,when I should have chosen you-

    You can definitely feel your emotions so very well in this poem. I loved the quote you used, it reflects so nicely in your poem here. A lot of time we are encountered with very hard decisions in our life and sometimes we have to think about what's best for us unfortunately, and thus it still breaks our heart - it's all a part of growing up, you are so right. A nice write here.
