This is an amazing poem with powerful free flow and historic theme

I may be terrible at understanding the true meaning of this poem but what I gathered was the idea that those who fight in wars suffer from post traumatic stress and thus those images of war creep up in their dreams and damage their emotions and so much of who they are. Hope I'm right, I thought you wrote this quite well as it is relevant to today's society.
