Distant Friend

by Lioness   Feb 7, 2011

Though our bodies were at a distance
We were bound by our connection
Unequivocally present emotions
Of love, lust and perfection

Conversations not short of theme
For we would often challenge our mind
Even when we would converse with passion
Our words were always kind

Transformation of sensations
I started to ache for your affection
To embrace you in my body's curves
To feel your warm complexion

I told you once what was lying beneath
Confiding my love, being brave
You could not reciprocate my feelings
So you slowly began to fade

Your lies spoken beyond belief
Forgiveness was truly mine
But our friendship blindly fell apart
It somehow got lost in time

Great piece, it's sad. It shows how a relationship/friendship can end with time. Though, sometimes we don't know why or how it ended but it sure it's painful. I like the flow of the poem it was smooth and it felt that came from your heart.

Michael is right (as usual) it is a great flowing poem. The rhymes were flawless, it doesn't look like you forced it at all. I also like that you used words that are not often seen in poetry, such as unequivocally. You word selection is awesome, flow is great, the story behind the poem appears to be excellent as well.
