Soldier Eyes

by Meme   Feb 8, 2011

He walks in with such a confident
Thinking he can win every argument
Turning away his face when she's present
She never knew he was in a deep torment

Her face is the only one he sees in the crowd
Listening to her deep silence; to him it's very loud
He always stood out to her, as being very proud
She was in love with him, she never had a doubt

Before he's sent back, he left a letter under her door
Explaining to her how hard it is to be in a war
Telling her he knows how she feels and more
And she was the one his heart chose to adore

Months has passed by, and he never wrote
She was struggling to keep away her bad thoughts
So scared to wakeup and find a signed death note
Sent back with his coffin and his army coat

One morning she had a feeling that stopped her pain
As she walked to see a reflection on her window pane
She couldn't see clearly because of the heavy rain
But there was a soldier leaning on a wooden cane

She opened the door and fall down on her knees
He was so scared and confused, and so did she
She started crying when he said "Please look at me"
Because she realized that he can no longer sees

He wiped her tears and asked her to stop her cries
Telling her that there was only one thing he realized
He asked for the truth this time, not another lie
He said "Am I still the soldier in your eyes ?"

She answered "My heart found its homeland"
So his hand was searching to hold her hand
She promised him that she will always stand
To be his eyes in this world, that's her only demand
