Serenity Sonnet

by Michael D Nalley   Feb 9, 2011

Sometimes in serenity our passion sleeps
In that dimness, or darkness we all may dream
What the creator creates, the reaper reaps
Many are to awaken by a single beam

Pieces of a soul transcend the mystic mind
Transparent truth always heals a damaged heart
When shadows are cast it's easier to find
Knowledge that the universe reveals in part

Sacred peace encourages serenity
The end that is to come has already been
Only thing that changes is its identity
We all must turn to the light to let it in

Too much of a good thing can make our skin burn
Yet it's the sun that causes our world to turn

Mike, I would love to nominate this, for making a sonnet is not an easy task in fact, I've tried it myself but I think I like the first poem I've just read. I feel that the last two lines were not that powerful enough, but I really, really loved the rest of the lines :)
