The Tears Don't Show.

by Daphne Darling   Jun 20, 2004

His face is bloodied,
It’s bruised and battered,
Blood trailing lines down it,
His wrists have scares,
And cuts deeper than thought,
Yet the tears don’t show,

His life is a mess,
Hate and hurt litter it,
His floor is scattered with blades,
Pills and assorted weapons of hurt,
His room a mess of hate,
And yet the tears don’t show,

Lines of blood,
Littered across his wrist,
Poetry written in tainted red ink,
Lines of hatred and hurt,
Haunting the walls of his room,
And still the tears don’t show,

Mutilated, scared and hurt,
Abused, used and hated,
No one knows, no one cares,
No one wonders why,
He doesn’t show up to class,
Still the tears don’t show,

His eyes are downcast,
As he walks the streets,
Late into the dismal nights,
Just to get away from home,
His broken and battered paradise,
And still the tears don’t show,

Late at night he returns,
Only one up in a whole town,
He walks into his battered room,
Looks around and grabs a blade,
He walks to the bathroom,
And still the tears don’t show,

He enters the room, silent and dark,
He doesn’t want to leave much of a mess,
Doesn’t want to make them mad with him,
He runs a bath, cold and freezing,
He sits down; his cloths still on him,
And still the tears don’t show,

He grasps the knife as tight as he can,
Quickly before he can rethink it,
He slices the blade in deep and deeper,
Cutting his veins, blood spurting out,
He does the other wrist, not so deep,
And still the tears don’t show,

He bleeds away cold and alone,
His life is lost with no love,
To late they told him the loved him,
He was dead and gone by that time,
His eyes unseeing, his ears unhearing,
And now the tears don’t show,

His parents found him in the morning,
That bathtub was half full with cold water,
And his blood, reddish water, death in the air,
They looked down at him, shock present,
In disbelief they called the police,
And now the tears don’t show,

Everyone was shocked to see what happened,
The funeral was all he couldn’t imagine,
He died thinking no one cared for him,
His sister and brother stood shocked,
Their big brother had never let on,
And now the tears don’t show,

After all was done, he was loved,
He didn’t see it, and it drove him over the edge,
He stepped out and off the ledge,
Taking away the gift of his life,
A selfish act to hurt all who held him dear,
And now the tears don’t show,

His tears wont show, not any more,
But their tears fall like rain,
His casket was lowered, but hes not forgotten,
The pain he caused he did not know of,
He is dead and gone, never to return,
And now the tears don’t show.
