Solitude

by Jaymi Lynn   Feb 11, 2011

Some say the world will end in war,
Others say in peace.
I can feel my own light dimming
As the sun sets in the east.

The fallen nights go quicker than the days,
Even though it is Winter's Reign.
I try to think of Spring,
It's beauty blossoming over my pain,
But it only brings more solitude
Into my burning veins.

Smiles are forced upon my face.
Laughs become as distant as space.
And the only way to possibly escape
Is to find another pathway.

Hopefully, this one will lead to security,
And I'll be able to trust someone other than me.
If not, that's okay, I'll know what to do.
I'll go back to living a life of solitude.
