Scientific Myths

by Michael D Nalley   Feb 12, 2011

Do not want to rain on anyone's parades
Water is much heavier than atmosphere.
Don't put clouds in my coffee with your charades
Vapor sometimes floats, but gravity holds it near.

Water is a greenhouse gas we call a cloud
Light of truth is faster than the speed of sound.
In politics logic must be disallowed,
Yet a sonic boom and rain will reach the ground

Hot air in balloons were thought to be absurd,
Though helium, hydrogen and hot air float.
We flirt with disaster, then play with a word.
The extinct have missed the proverbial boat.

Just call it global warming or rearrange
Simple facts, for many a climate will change.

Very welll written, as always. For me, though, I felt it didn't flow as well as I've seen in your previous work. But as I said, the wording and structure was simple but strong. There's a wisdom in your writing that I think many of us enjoy.

I really like that line, Michael. So many connotations for so few words. Keeps me thinking, nicely done. :)

Satirical Poetry: Sarcasm serves as a very powerful means of expressing criticism. An insult can most strongly be expressed through poetry. Romans have been using satirical poetry for political purposes.

^ I thought I should let you know, if you are not aware, that is :)

What can I say, but to agree with you. The usage of personification within this piece is more than knowledgeable. Your creativity is stellar. This was a great write with so much to learn about.

    Keep it up, Mikey :)
