Never Look Back

Loved this one!! I think this is one of your best and perhaps it may just be because I can relate to it so much just now. I truly think this is amazing work!

They say that you should never look back
Whenever you're walking away
Part of you wants them to reach out
To beg for you to stay

- I like this opening because it one which anyone can relate to, it oculd be between any two people with any relationship. As humans this is something we cannot help, we always want to look back or to hear them say stop, dont go, etc.

The other part wants to stay strong
It's not healthy to live this way
If you stay with them much longer
You may not live to see another day

- This is where you start to wonder about what the relationship is and you get the sense of the danger this person could be in. Ofcourse at this point - you have to read on to find out! Clever ;)

They suffocate you with their love of hate
They kick you while you are down
You know that the fault lies with them
But they manage to turn the blame around

- suffocate is such a strong word and so fitting with this situation. You really describe here how evil they can be and how much they drag you down. You also in your last 2 lines manage to show the reader how they can abuse your thoughts and mind too.

They tell you that they love you
Though they hurt you all the time
When your friends ask if you're OK
You lie and say your fine

- great example of the typical abusive relationship - I can really relate to this and I think after so long of putting up witht his, the routine becomes a habit, you lie and say you are fine as much as they lie and say they love you or they will stop.

How long can you live like this
So you start to think of a plan
To leave this sad prick of a boy
Who calls himself a man

- Absolutely loved this twist and how you start to take back control. It is like the fear of the other person fades away as you manage to insult him bravely. Loved it!

So when you find the courage
When you're in the right state of mind
Know that you have found your strength
To leave his sorry ass behind

- Your ending really touched me, and although it did make me smile from humor, it gave me a sense of hope to my situation right now.

WOW! I can guess what insired you and brovo! Growin up i have seen each side, I'm soory. Grate wright! You hold the key's

Oh my gosh!! this was amazing!! you had me from the beginning to the end. i was in a really abusive relationship with my ex fiance, i loved him so much but he was so cruel and heartless.

he beat me up both physically and emotionally and put me in hospital so many times. then one day i had enough and drank a bottle of methalated spirits because i truly wanted nothing more than to die.

he wouldn't allow me to have friends and was just such a self centred and cruel person. and so i can totally relate to this poem. its definitely going to go on my favorites list:)

and i absolutely LOVED the ending!! it was so powerful and it really made me smile. you're very talented and I'll definitely be reading more of your poetry soon:)
