This Monster

by No1ButMe   Feb 21, 2011

Big words
Wrapped up in big lies
Secret hiding places
Late night cries
Sadistic smile
Let no one in
Bitter filled words
Hidden twisted sins
Dark empty eyes
They bare no soul
Destined to die alone
Never made whole
Blood crazed
No emotions to show
Leave the world in wonder
They will never know
Honest to a fault
Hold nothing back
A once bright aura
Now tainted black
Pessimistic view
I see no light
Believe me I'm someone
You don't want to fight
Fangs shown
Secluded from the world
At some point
I turned into this girl
Mom, you did this
With every hit and every war
Every harsh word and every torture
I couldn't take anymore
You turned me into a beast
You turned me into you
'The apple doesn't fall from the tree'
Well, I guess that's true
I've changed so much
I don't like who I am now
You say I've turned into this monster
But you taught me how...

The first three quarters of this piece were very pacey due to the shortness of the lines, and it really felt like something was building and getting more intense. More so because of the structure you've chosen, where there are not breaks. I liked it.

There's not much I can say that I've not said in previous comments. This piece felt every personal, emotional and intense. It was, as with everything I read by you so far, well written and powerful.

I'd like to thank you. I was beginning to think it was pointless coming on this site, because (and I do feel bad saying this) I wasn't enjoying any of the work. But then, I found you, and now I feel much better, so thank you.

P.S. As always, please comment and vote honestly on every poem that you read.
