Poem #8

by yogi73   Feb 25, 2011

Destiny peered back
to see if fate followed.

Bound to their first, but
night fires tenuously lift sparks
to entice.

Wistful destiny looking ahead,
sorrowful fate always wondering
about what was
or was never supposed to be
shooting stars crossing paths.

Destiny asked do you still need me,
fate said I cannot be without.
When destiny beckoned
playfully at the edge,
fate always succumbed.

Fate knew it was a heavy burden.
For destiny, who always understood more,
worried that this would last.

Never understanding why its muse
had vanished
fate reluctantly advanced
looking and waiting
heart hopeful for destiny's return.

An interesting idea, giving things such as fate and destiny characteristics. In another context, one could see this as being names for two friends. Unique, and well written. 5/5
